The Delta Science Plan

The Delta Science Plan is a shared guidance document intended to strengthen, organize, and communicate science to provide relevant, credible, and legitimate decision-support for policy and management actions.  The Delta Science Plan proposes mechanisms that promote ways to conduct science in an open and transparent manner that supports the concept of One Delta, One Science.

Delta Science Plan (updated May 9, 2016)

The Delta Science Program is currently updating the Delta Science Plan. The review process involves collaborative Delta science groups and the public through outreach efforts, a public workshop, and opportunities for comment. The final draft will be revised based on public comment and a review by the Delta Independent Science Board (ISB).

Coequal goals

The Delta Stewardship Council was created in legislation to achieve the state mandated coequal goals for the Delta. "'Coequal goals' means the two goals of providing a more reliable water supply for California and protecting, restoring, and enhancing the Delta ecosystem. The coequal goals shall be achieved in a manner that protects and enhances the unique cultural, recreational, natural resource, and agricultural values of the Delta as an evolving place." (CA Water Code §85054)
